stated vs revealed preferences...

It is interesting that we become defensive when asked about a question that may reveal our preference. For example, if asked "what is your favorite book?" - the answer will be "The Holy Quran" or "The Holy Bible" or whatever makes us look "righteous"; Similarly if you ask "What is your favorite personality?", we would like to say "Muhammad PBUH" or "Jesus PBUH" or something very attractive

But closely if we look at our life, we seldom reflect any of the behavior mentioned by our ideals. Well i dont know what to call it...is it a human factor?, dual face, or oxy-moronic way to fool others.

I dont understand the idea of fooling others...what a person would benefit from that by being not "himself" or "herself".

Some interesting quotes

A democracy is nothing more than a mob rule, where fifty one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other fortynine.

All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.

He who knows best knows how little he knows.

I abhor wars and view it as the greatest scourge of mankind.

I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.

Trip To Moab

My trip to Moab was pretty good. Had fun with Jawaad's family. Especially kids were great, cuz they were seeing the dead horse point the very first time in life. They were very happy and asking so many good questions.

Early morning wehen we were about to leave; we locked ourselves out. Jawaad like always was in a hurry and was not able to manage everything. So we ditched; forgot the car keys inside. Bad part was that he misbehaved somebody for no aparent reason.

Lesson: A person should control himself, and be respectful to others no matter what. I think Jawaad is a very good person, and he didnt intend to do it. I think it was a good example of a situation where he would lose control of himself and wouldn't know that he is being disrespectful to other person who has a right to be treated fairly and respectfully.

I strongly dislike his this habit.

Fuel Cost Hikes - Where we are?

I think every body is talking big about fuel price hikes these days. Some blame the government, some go for the easier option of calling names to big picture gas vendors like chevron, Shell..and so on, and some ofcourse think bad about arab countries.

I think in all of this noise, we have forgotten what our role is in this mess....somehow we will have to rethink on how rare resource the petroleum is becomeing now a days and how we should use it.

Even though i see many people crying on gas price hikes, but i dont see any behavioural change. No body wants to pick the transit for their commute and leave a luxury of driving their own vehicle to their destination (at least for work).

I think this is insane, we better do something about alternative fuel based technologies now.
